Mo’ Awards For Mo’Nique! She’s The Best Supporting Actress For “Precious”

File this under “Who’s Surprised, Part XVII” — Mo’Nique won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Precious, Yes Yes We Know It’s Based On A Book. The comedienne-turned-dramatic-powerhouse claimed her prize with a flip-off to Hollywood Oscar politics, another declaration of love for her husband, Sidney (now familiar from her award-winning), a shout-out to pioneering African-American actress Hattie McDaniel (“I would like to thank Miss Hattie McDaniel, for enduring what she had to so that I would not have to”), and a reminder of what Precious was actually about: real abuse victims.
