Paul Ryan on Trump’s Comey Tweets: ‘I’m Not Going to Comment on the Tweets of the Day’

House Speaker Paul Ryan was asked today for his response to President Trump‘s tweet sending a warning to James Comey on Twitter about supposed “tapes” of their conversations.

Ryan was asked by a reporter today, “What are your thoughts about what some have considered to be a threatening tweet from the president directed at Mr. Comey?”

This was Ryan’s full answer, per CNN’s Jake Tapper:

Ryan got some pushback on Twitter when this tweet from Tapper circulated:

This is not a new position of Ryan’s. Back in December, during the transition, he told reporters, “Do you think I’m going to comment on the daily tweets? I’m just not going to be doing that.”
