Shepard Smith on Trump Wanting DOJ to Prosecute Clinton, Comey: ‘That’s Not How It Works’

Fox News’ Shepard Smith opened his show today with some slight pushback to President Donald Trump wanting the DOJ go prosecute James Comey and Hillary Clinton.

The New York Times broke the news last night that Trump wanted them prosecuted, but then-White House counsel Don McGahn pushed back and tried to warn about how bad it would look.

“Our reporting begins with President Trump reportedly saying he wanted to order the Justice Department to prosecute his political rivals,” Smith said. “That’s not how it works.”

The Times report noted that Trump has been frustrated with FBI director Christopher Wray for a “failure to investigate” his former 2016 rival.
