The Daily Show Reworks Classic Christmas Shows Into A ‘War On Christmas’ Special
‘Tis the season to be jolly! Except in some cases, where it’s not. Yes, it’s that time of year again, and the Christmas season now arrives hand-in-hand with the “War on Christmas” season (and just as predictably followed by “The Ridicule of The War On Christmas” season.) Last night Jon Stewart made his annual mockery of Fox News’ seasonal indignation over the ruination of Christmas cheer, only this time he and his team went all in, creating an epic War on Christmas animated short based on all classic Christmas show characters we’ve all grown to love.
Mr. Stewart opened his show last night celebrating the sixth (and most important) day of Hanukkahs before airing a clip of Fox & Friends Gretchen Carlson interrogating the Chairman of the Tulsa Parade of Lights for changing the name from the “Christmas Parade,” to yes, the “Holiday Parade.”
This lead to Stewart’s false indignation over Carlson’s earnest indignation, saying “oh, my god! oh, my god! The seasonal parade in America’s 47th largest city changed its name. Last year. And Gretchen apparently just found out about it.”
He then introduced a short animated clip that featured many characters from classic Christmas specials, including the stop-motion Rankin-Bass characters, to the Grinch from Who-ville and Charlie Brown’s Christmas Special in the ultimate holiday mash-up with retracked voices. It’s a War on Christmas Miracle!
