Trump’s Pelosi Diss Leaves MSNBC Analyst Struggling To Find Words: ‘God, We Need Like an Hour For This’
MSNBC political analyst Jake Sherman struggled to find words as he was asked to respond to President Donald Trump trashing Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as an “evil woman” on the same day she announced her retirement from Congress.
Sherman, a co-founder of Punchbowl News, joined MSNBC’s Katy Tur on Thursday and was informed that Trump had just blasted Pelosi from the White House, calling her an “evil woman.”
Trump was asked at the White House about Pelosi’s announcement earlier that day that she would not seek reelection after decades in office.
The president had already celebrated her retirement in a statement to Fox News, and he doubled down at the White House.
“I think she’s an evil woman. I’m glad she’s retiring. I think she did the country a great service by retiring,” he said.
Sherman was left a bit stunned when Tur informed him of the insult.
“She is, well…Trump,” Sherman said, chuckling and then adding, “God, we need like an hour for this.”
The analyst went on to argue that Trump has never effectively been able to take on Pelosi and noted that even Republicans, like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), have praised her as an effective House Speaker.
Sherman said:
Trump was never really able to battle Pelosi. He’s, and we wrote this in our midday edition, he is one of many men who Pelosi has bested over her 38-year career in Congress. A litmus test for me always is on Capitol Hill, and Marjorie Taylor Greene said this today also, [Pelosi] is the most efficient congressional leader of either party that we’ve seen. Doesn’t mean you have to like her policies, you don’t have to like her, you don’t have to think, you know, she’s nice. Whatever you think of her, she is the most effective and efficient congressional leader that I’ve ever covered and was able to charge through, barrel through dozens of of huge bills, small bills during her time two tenures as Speaker. Dozens is probably short, many, many bills. And I can’t tell you, Katie, how many Republicans have said it. MTG said this today, how many Republicans said that they wish they had a Speaker like Nancy Pelosi who was as powerful and as effective as Nancy Pelosi.
In one of her last interviews before announcing her retirement, Pelosi blasted Trump as the most “evil thing on the face of the Earth.”
“He’s just a vile creature,” she told CNN about the president. “The worst thing on the face of the Earth.”
