Tucker Carlson Swipes at Ex-Fox News Analyst Ralph Peters for Comments About Michael Flynn

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson took a swipe at a former network analyst over commentary on the Michael Flynn sentencing memo.

Ret. Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, a former Fox News military analyst who left earlier this year and has made appearances on CNN and MSNBC since, said last night that Flynn “betrayed his country” and that “as a former officer I’d send him to jail for life.”

After playing the clip of Peters’ comments (preceded by comments by Evan McMullin), an amused Carlson said, “It’s almost like the dumber you are, the more time you spend on television.”

He then spoke with former U.S. attorney Joe diGenova, who called McMullin and Peters “idiots” who “don’t know what they’re talking about.”

Carlson infamously clashed with Peters in a heated fight last year in which Carlson went off on him for comparing him to a Nazi apologist.

Peters left Fox News earlier this year with a statement decrying the network as a “propaganda machine” and saying he was “ashamed” he was ever associated with the network.

He didn’t mention Carlson by name in his statement, but he referred to “prime-time hosts” who “dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller.”

Carlson took a subtle swipe at Peters in response to his departure. At the time, Fox News said in a statement to Mediaite, “Ralph Peters is entitled to his opinion despite the fact that he’s choosing to use it as a weapon in order to gain attention. We are extremely proud of our top-rated primetime hosts and all of our opinion programming.”
