‘Daddy Told Me To Do It!’ Jen Psaki and George Conway Laugh Out Loud At Prospect of Trump Kids Ratting On Him In Fraud Trial
MSNBC host Jen Psaki and anti-Trump attorney George Conway laughed out loud at the prospect of former President Donald Trump’s adult children testifying against him in court, with Conway speculating they’ll implicate their father.
Over the last two weeks, Trump has appeared frequently during his trial in the fraud case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James and presided over by Judge Arthur Engoron, who recently ruled that former First Daughter Ivanka Trump must testify in person. Ivanka will be joined by former co-First Sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., all of whom will take the stand in the next nine days.
On Monday’s edition of MSNBC’s Inside With Jen Psaki, Conway and Psaki talked about the fraud case, which Conway said could be a “death blow” to Trump’s businesses.
Elsewhere in the interview, Conway noted that in this fraud case, the judge is allowed to draw a negative inference if Trump pleads the fifth, and Psaki asked him to speculate what the Trump kids’ testimony might be like:
JEN PSAKI: So as he’s kind of watching his children testify here, what is he on edge, that he’s worried about hearing over the next couple of days?
GEORGE CONWAY: I think he’s going to be on edge. Hearing them admit that they didn’t have a basis for things or saying that “Daddy told me to do it!”.
That’s what I would I would be worried about if I were him. But I don’t know why. I don’t know what they’re going to say. That’s that’s what you know–
JEN PSAKI: (laughs) It’s wildly interesting to watch!
GEORGE CONWAY: –to watch.
JEN PSAKI: So this won’t surprise you, I’m sure. But he’s been fundraising off. Of course, he’s been fundraising off of the 14th Amendment challenge to his candidacy in Colorado. He can make it up sometimes, but there’s really no consequences to that. I mean, should there be? Could there be?
GEORGE CONWAY: What do you mean, consequences?
JEN PSAKI: I don’t know that he’s fundraising off of these legal cases against him?
GEORGE CONWAY: Actually, I think there should have been consequences, and there may yet still be consequences for the fund raising he did during the interregnum when he was you know, when he was claiming that the election was rigged and saying that and trying to hold on to office. And he was saying he needed all this money to do it. He was raising all this money for legal challenges.
Of course, it’s hard to spend $250 million, is what he raised in 2020, early 2021, on legal fees. I mean, and then he didn’t. And those fees being used for those those, that money has been used for other purposes. So, you know, the question really is, is is is what are they saying to the potential marks? I will call them who, to send in their money? Are they lying to them, if that’s all that that’s I think that’s fraud.
JEN PSAKI: Well, it sounds like we have a lot to watch in this case. You don’t even know what the children are going to say (laughs). So thank you so much for coming in.
