Biden Joins Other Dems Knocking Sanders: We Don’t Need Socialism

Screen Shot 2016-01-20 at 4.50.34 PMAt the World Economic Forum in Switzerland today, Vice President Joe Biden appeared to take a swipe at presidential nominee Bernie Sanders, a Democratic socialist. He spoke of strengthening the middle class, cautioning against socialism as he did so.

We already reported today that Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton took hits at Sanders recently as he began closing the gap between himself and Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton in polls. Last night, following an appearance on The Rachel Maddow Show during which he referred to Planned Parenthood as “part of the political establishment,” the Left continued to berate him.

Biden’s jab, then, is just the next logical step for Democrats, who seem to be singularly focused on Clinton getting the nomination. There have been rumors for months that Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Shultz has been planning the debate schedule to be as inconvenient as possible to give Clinton an advantage, so why shouldn’t the sitting vice president join in on the onslaught?

On MSNBC today, Steve Kornacki pointed out that there are other Democratic politicians around the country who are speaking out against Sanders now that he is gaining ground in the polls. He listed Missouri’s Governor Jay Nixon and Senator Claire McCaskill as prime examples.

“Now would the Left ever, would the DNC ever come after their frontrunner and her supporters?” asked Sarah Palin during her official endorsement of Donald Trump for president last night, during which she lamented how many GOP candidates and leaders have expressed disdain for her candidate. Then, she answered herself, “No because they don’t eat their own, they don’t self-destruct.”

Biden, Clinton, Nixon, and McCaskill appear to be doing their best to prove Palin wrong.
