CNN Panel Rips Trump For Pro-Russia Speech: ‘As if He’s Watching RT Before He Goes Out’
At a rally in Huntington, WV on Thursday night, President Donald Trump again dismissed the Russia probe as a non-issue. An Anderson Cooper: 360 panel, however, begged to differ.
“He again tonight is pretending that Russia didn’t play a role in the election,” said Democratic strategist Paul Begala. “It doesn’t mean that he did. But Russia did. And his own intelligence agencies say that. And again tonight he’s casting doubt on that. It’s a huge problem.”
Yahoo’s Bianna Golodryga went a step further than Begala, comparing Trump’s rally message to Russian propaganda aired on the state-funded RT.
“It’s as if he’s watching RT before he goes out because his message is exactly the same Russia TV, his message is exactly what’s being played out in Russia,” Golodryga said. She added, “When he says, ‘Are there any Russians in West Virginia?’ We know what he’s talking about.”
Republican strategist Alice Stewart added that Trump is overly hung up on Russia in her view, and he would be wise to refer all things Russia to his attorney.
“He truly believes what he said out there tonight,” Stewart said. “He truly believes any question about Russia is undermining his victory…He went on tonight at this event to say that the Russia probe that is distracting the administration is total fabrication. So here again, he’s gone back to the total fabrication witch hunt.”
