Dennis Hastert Will Reportedly Plead Guilty in Bank Fraud Case

Screen Shot 2015-10-15 at 10.54.38 AMThere are multiple reports this morning that ex-House Speaker Dennis Hastert will plead guilty to at least one charge in a case involving bank withdrawals and accusations of lying to the FBI.

Hastert was charged back in May of bank fraud and lying to the FBI, and there were reported payments Hastert made to someone to “compensate for and conceal his prior misconduct.” It turned out that prior misconduct was allegedly sexual in nature.

Subsequent reports revealed Hastert had sexually abused students when he was a high school wrestling coach. One of the victims’ families came forward, and as of June the FBI had said there were up to three victims.

When Hastert appeared in court in June, he pled not guilty, but today it’s been reported that he will plead guilty to at least one of the charges as part of a plea deal.

Hastert will appear in court again on October 28th and will reportedly plead guilty then.
