Former CIA and NSA director Michael Hayden spoke out at a literary festival yesterday to promote his book about U.S. intelligence, and he ended up talking about Donald Trump.
Hayden has been very critical of Trump in the past few months, saying that the military would refuse his unlawful orders and what Trump is doing is “underscor[ing] and underpin[ning] the fundamentals of their narrative of undying enmity.”
Hayden talked yesterday about his book, the NSA, Edward Snowden, and torture (which he apparently admitted didn’t work), but according to The Guardian, he said this about The Donald:
“The jihadist narrative is that there is undying enmity between Islam and the modern world so when Trump says they all hate us, he’s using their narrative … he’s feeding their recruitment video.”
