Gingrich: White People Don’t Understand It’s ‘More Dangerous to Be Black in America’

Newt Gingrich said today that more white people need to understand just how more “dangerous” life can be for black people living in the United States.

Gingrich spoke with CNN’s Van Jones on Facebook Live today and said “it is more dangerous to be black in America” because of crime in places like Chicago and how they’re “substantially more likely to end up in a situation where the police don’t respect you and you could easily get killed.”

He said that it’s difficult for white people to truly understand that “everyday danger”:

“If you are a normal white American, the truth is you don’t understand being black in America and you instinctively underestimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.”

Jones and Gingrich also agreed that it would be preferable if Black Lives Matter was, instead, Black Lives Matter Too.
