Greta Scoops Katie Couric, Scores First TV Interview with Jill Abramson

Fox News host Greta Van Susteren will interview former New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson this Wednesday evening, July 16th, during her 7 p.m. show On the Record. It will be Abramson’s first television interview since she was fired by The New York Times in May.

Previously, Yahoo News announced that Abramson would be sitting down for her first post-firing interview with Katie Couric on Thursday, a booking that has been effectively scooped by Fox.

However, since Abramson’s interview on Fox will be her first television interview and her sit-down with Couric will stream on the internet, it’s likely both outlets will find a way to label their respective interviews “exclusive.”

The most anyone has heard from Abramson about the end of her tenure at the Times came when she delivered a commencement speech at Wake Forest University just days after she was fired.

“I’m in exactly the same boat as many of you,” she told the students. “Like you I am a little scared, but excited.” Last month, Harvard announced it had hired Abramson as a visiting lecturer for the coming school year.
