It seemed like it was all over but the shouting.
The Golden State Warriors, having roared through the postseason with 15 straight wins — most of them in dominant fashion — looked for sure as though they would wrap up their incredible, undefeated playoff run on Friday night in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
But in front of their home fans, the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers showed some pride, and found the range on offense. And they lit up the scoreboard to the tune of 137 points, en route to a 21-point blowout.
And so the dream of an unblemished postseason is now dead for Golden State. Still, they figure to be a heavy favorite to win the Larry O’Brien trophy on Monday night, with the series heading back west for Game 5.
But if, somehow, Golden State can’t get it done, Warriors fans will, undoubtedly, begin to think about the 3-1 lead the team surrendered to Cleveland just last year. And they will wonder if they might be reliving the nightmare.
Tip-off is scheduled for at 9:00 p.m. ET. ABC has the coverage. The game will also be streamed online, via WatchESPN, free with a cable subscription. The Watch ESPN app can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store, and the Google Play Store.
