It appears Last Week Tonight is the victim of a hack job.
On Wednesday night, the Twitter account of the HBO program tweeted the following:
“Hi, OurMine are here, we are just testing your security, HBO team please contact us to upgrade the security – ourmine .org -> Contact,” the tweet stated.
The tweet remained on the show’s page for nearly a half an hour before it was deleted.
It is unknown if this Twitter hack has anything to do with the HBO-wide hack that has plagued the network for the past several weeks. A reported 1.5 Terabytes was stolen by hackers. Internal emails and scripts have been leaked as well as and full unaired episodes of shows like Game of Thrones, Insecure, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. The hacker, who goes by the name of “Mr. Smith” has been demanding a ransom of “our 6-month salary in Bitcoin” (which translates to $12-$15 million) in exchange for not having such shows leaked online.
