New Poll Shows Majority of Americans Are Tired of Hearing About Hillary’s Emails
Last week, Bernie Sanders told Hillary Clinton at the Democratic debate, “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!” Well, now we have the numbers on just how much of the American people are truly tired of it.
A new Monmouth University poll [PDF] finds that 52 percent of those polled believe Clinton used private email as a “matter of convenience” as opposed to because she “has something to hide.”
Now, that being said, 48 percent thinks she has not been honest about how Clinton handled her emails, but a whopping 59 percent said they are “tired of hearing about Clinton’s emails.”
And when you break it down by party, that’s 79 percent of Democrats, 56 percent of independents, and 42 percent of Republicans.
Clinton’s emails will be undoubtedly one of the topics before the Benghazi Special Committee tomorrow, when Clinton is set to testify. Clinton has already invoked statements from Republicans to denounce the committee as partisan and uninterested in the truth. Committee chair Trey Gowdy has defended the committee’s integrity and insisted they are trying to get answers amid the Obama administration’s stonewalling.
The poll asks about the committee itself too, and 52 percent believe they’re more interested in going after Clinton than learning the facts.
