The View Shades Ivanka For Defending Dad Against Accusers: ‘You Know She Probably Believes It’
The cast of The View went in on Ivanka Trump for an answer she gave in an interview with NBC’s Peter Alexander — scolding him for asking her about her father’s sexual misconduct accusers. Ivanka called the question “inappropriate” but also offered that she “believes [her] father” when he says that the allegations are untrue.
“Yes, it is her dad, but she also works in an official capacity for the White House,” Whoopi Goldberg said. “She’s spoken out about other sexual misconduct allegations. So was this, in fact, an inappropriate question?”
“I don’t think so at all,” Sunny Hostin said. “I think it was completely fair game because she is not just his daughter. She is the White House senior adviser. She has an office in the West Wing.”
As the audience applauded, Hostin continued: “Her platform is supposed to be about helping women…I think if your father has been accused by not one, not two, but 16 women, then that’s something you should talk about.”
“You can’t just toggle on the daughter switch when you’re in an uncomfortable position,” guest panelist Patton Oswalt added. “If #MeToo is thought of as almost like a video game, Donald Trump is the final boss. He’s Donkey Kong at the top of this thing. And [Ivanka]’s the princess standing next to him and they’re like, ‘Hey, can we talk about the flaming barrels?’ He’s sort of like, ‘We’re not talking about that right now.’ But they’re right there!”
“It is a little upsetting to have him as a father. You know she probably believes it. She believes every other accuser,” Joy Behar said.
