Trump Reportedly ‘Hate-Watches’ CNN’s Don Lemon to ‘Get Worked Up’
The New York Times published a deep-dive on President Donald Trump — based on conversations with 60 advisers and acquaintances — today that revealed, among other things, the president’s extensive television viewing habits. According to those close to POTUS, Trump will spend as much as eight hours a day watching the tube.
While we’ve already summarized some of the most insane details of the huge feature piece, one revelation feels like it deserves its own spotlight, especially considering all of the vitriol he constantly directs at CNN.
According to the report, after Trump has finished dinner and any guests he’s invited have left, it is time for some more cable news watching. And while there are some obvious faves on the list, he also likes to watch a certain CNN anchor. Why? Because it riles him up.
When the guests depart, the remote control comes back out. He is less likely to tweet at this hour, when the news he would react to is mostly recycled from hours earlier. But he watches Ms. Pirro and her fellow Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, and sometimes “hate-watches” CNN to get worked up, especially Don Lemon.
In recent weeks and months, Lemon has slammed the president in a number of provocative and blunt segments. He’s hit Trump on his history on race relations and his use of racist rhetoric. The CNN host has also compared the president to a “child” while describing him as “unhinged.”
