‘She Really Liked to Fight’ Fox’s Peter Doocy Responds to Jen Psaki Saying She Never ‘Hated’ Him Amid Briefing Room ‘Tensions’
Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy responded to Jen Psaki saying she never “hated” him during their press briefing room dustups back in the day by claiming the former White House press secretary “liked to fight.”
Doocy joined Fox & Friends on Tuesday and he eventually touched on Psaki’s comments at a forum this week where she also suggested Doocy may have been “traumatized” from working at Fox News.
“People often ask me, ‘How much did you hate that guy?’ And I’m always like, ‘No, I didn’t hate him at all,'” Psaki said, adding it must be a “mind-bend” to work at Fox News.
Doocy attributed his moments of “tension” with Psaki to the major crises that occurred while she was press secretary, including the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When I think back to Jen’s time here, there were some moments of real tension in the briefing room because the issues of the day were really, really heavy. It was coming out of Covid, and the [Joe] Biden policy was very, very confusing most of the time, and it was getting out of Afghanistan where the headlines were tragic,” he said.
Doocy added that he was “happy” to hear Psaki take a positive tone when discussing their working relationship, but he added that Psaki “liked to fight.”
“Happy to hear her say that. I was raised to be a nice guy,” he said. “I like to think I’m pretty affable, but it goes to show she really liked to fight in the briefing room; she was there to fight for and go on offense for President Biden. She did her job very well, and it was great doing some briefing room combat with her from time to time.”
