Trump Lambasted on Twitter After Attacking John McCain: ‘Only Cowards Attack Dead People’

On Saturday, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to blast the late Sen. John McCain.

“Spreading the fake and totally discredited Dossier ‘is unfortunately a very dark stain against John McCain.’ Ken Starr, Former Independent Counsel,” Trump wrote, putting his own spin on Starr’s words. “He had far worse ‘stains’ than this, including thumbs down on repeal and replace after years of campaigning to repeal and replace!”

Shortly after that, Meghan McCain offered a fierce response, writing on Twitter, “No one will ever love you the way they loved my father.”

Yet it wasn’t just McCain’s daughter who was riled by the president’s words.

Twitter quickly pointed out Trump was speaking ill of the dead.

New York Times’ Wajahat Ali — who ripped Trump last night on CNN — also took it as an opportunity to remind Trump that a white supremacist and alleged terrorist mentioned him by name.

Others pointed out that McCain is war hero, while Trump never served.

Still more Twitter denizens noted that Trump’s tweet, well, made him sound like a “coward” and an “asshole” in their estimations.
