‘Whatever Happened to That Guy???’ Trump Rips Steve Doocy for ‘Desperately Trying to Save’ DeSantis
Donald Trump made it clear he didn’t like what he was seeing on Fox News Wednesday morning — trashing Fox & Friends for their coverage on the current state of the 2024 Republican primary.
In a new Truth Social post, Trump complained, “Why does FoxNews keep using a Fake CNN Poll (where I am still winning by a lot)?” Shortly thereafter, Trump focused his ire on Fox & Friends’ Steve Doocy, whose criticisms of Trump have been a source of irritation for the former president before.
“So funny to watch Steve Doocy of Fox & Friends desperately trying to save Ron DeSanctimonious, a sinking ship. Whatever happened to that guy???” Trump griped. “Also, the CNN Poll used by Fox, even though I’m winning big, is a FAKE outlier. Look at (just out) USA TODAY/Suffolk instead, plus 20 over Birdbrain in New Hampshire!””
Trump regularly complains whenever Fox gives coverage to his Republican primary rivals, and his new outburst apparently stems from a segment in which Doocy talked up Governor Ron DeSantis’ (FL) prospects for the Iowa caucus — noting that the governor’s ground game in the Hawkeye state could give him an advantage.
“Even though his number in Iowa, he is currently at 19 percent in the popular polls. But his Iowa superPAC has organized,” Doocy said. “They have knocked on the doors of 812,000 Iowa homes according to The Des Moines Register. That was through late December. And then yesterday, in the Des Moines Register, they talked about how he has found and located and gotten pledges from 1,600 caucus captains and canvassers who are going to turn out people.”
The block also included discussion of the CNN/University of New Hampshire poll that Trump was complaining about, which shows Nikki Haley closing the gap with his polling lead.
