CNN’s New Day Baffled By Melania Trump’s #MeToo Comments: ‘She’s All Over The Place’
CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin and Nia-Malika Henderson were baffled by Melania Trump‘s comments about the #MeToo movement on New Day Thursday morning.
“I do stand with women. But we need to show the evidence,” Trump said in an ABC News interview. “You cannot just say to somebody, I was sexually assaulted, or you did that to me, because sometimes the media goes too far. And the way they portray some stories, it’s not correct. It’s not right.”
“She’s saying a few different things there,” noted CNN host Alisyn Camerota, asking how Kavanaugh-accuser Christine Blasey Ford could provide evidence for her alleged assault.
Toobin, CNN’s legal analyst, was baffled. “I am going to defer to Nia. I have no idea what she’s talking about. So Nia, you’re in charge of answering that question.”
“I don’t know either, I mean she’s all over the place,” Henderson, senior political reporter for CNN, said. “She’s saying she supports women, but she supports men, she probably believes what Don Jr. believes, which is that there is this attempt to get men. And obviously her husband she might think is also a victim of this #MeToo culture. I think it was 13 women so far have accused him of sexual harassment, sexual assault, any number of infractions.”
“I think the follow-up question to her would be, ‘well what about these 13 women who have said these things about your husband?'” she added.
