Former DNC Chair Howard Dean endorsed Peter Buttigieg to be the next party chair on MSNBC this morning, explaining on Morning Joe that “this party is in trouble.”
Buttigieg is currently the mayor of South Bend, Indiana and served in Afghanistan as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Dean thinks an outsider like him would be great for the Democratic party because “our leadership is old and creaky, including me.”
He argued that party leadership is out of touch with the young people they’re trying to win over and mobilize, and Buttigieg is the “real deal.”
CNN will be airing a DNC chair debate tonight at 10 pm ET.
