Sarah Sanders Rips Pelosi: We Actually Like to Read Legislation Before We Agree to It
Talking with reporters on the White House’s driveway, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders made a swipe at Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and said it’s difficult to say if President Donald Trump will sign the proposed border security bill, which has only $1 billion for wall funding and less capacity to hold migrants in detention centers.
“It’s hard to say definitively whether or not the president’s going to sign it until we know everything that’s in it. Unlike Nancy Pelosi, we actually like to read legislation before we agree to it,” Sanders said, referring to Pelosi’s infamous “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy,” remark.
Sanders added there were some “positive pieces” to the bill “and one thing you can be sure of is at the end of the day, the president is going to build the wall.”
Trump did say he was “not happy” with the proposal on Tuesday.
“I have to study it, I’m not happy about it,” he said. “It’s not doing the trick, but I’m adding things to it. I will add whatever I have to add. It’s all going to happen…Am I happy? The answer is no, I’m not.”
