Saturday Night Live returned this week with one of its classic openings in President Donald Trump’s America, featuring Alec Baldwin’s classic impersonation of the commander in chief — this time, grappling with the latest White House scandals, turmoil and boring scripted remarks.
Baldwin reflected the president’s recent unscripted comments this week at a West Virginia roundtable focused on tax reform, as well as a conference he held with world leaders from the Baltic States. “No one has been tougher on Russia than I have, and that’s including Hitler,” he begins. After snoozing during another world leader’s remarks, the mock-Trump takes questions from reporters regarding his alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels and his disdain for Amazon.
The opening also mocked Fox News’ Outnumbered, featuring Leslie Jones as the show’s co-host Harris Faulkner.
Saturday Night Live returned after a two-week break with Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman as the host and rapper Cardi B, whose new album Invasion of Privacy was released on Friday, as the musical guest.
