Colbert Tears Into Tucker Carlson: ‘Let’s Be Honest. You’re Awful on So Many Levels’
Stephen Colbert ripped into Tucker Carlson on Monday for a series of misogynistic and otherwise gross comments the current Fox News host made while calling into Bubba the Love Sponge‘s shock jock radio show from 2006 to 2011.
The clips were uncovered by Media Matters.
Carlson has refused to apologize for the remarks and has instead blamed the liberal “mob.” He also called his words “naughty.”
“A lot of people say terrible things. And by a lot of people, I mean, Tucker Carlson,” Colbert began.
He then recalled horrible things Carlson said during his weekly call-ins including mocking then-Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan‘s appearance, making light of Warren Jeff and child brides and calling all women “primitive.”
“Predictably, the president of the Warren Jeffs fan club has refused to apologize, and instead, released this statement: ‘Media Matters caught me saying something naughty on a radio show more than a decade ago,'” Colbert continued on. “Naughty? Tucker, when you defend child brides, you don’t go on the naughty list. You go on that list where you have to go door to door and tell everyone you just moved into their neighborhood.”
Carlson was on MSNBC until 2009, when he left the network to join Fox News. The comments were made between 2006 and 2011.
