Watch Trump Forget to Sign Health Care Executive Order at Executive Order Signing

President Donald Trump signed his big health care executive order today, aimed at dismantling the Affordable Care Act.

The order comes as a GOP controlled Congress has failed repeatedly to pass legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare, much to the consternation of the president.

Sen. Rand Paul and Vice President Mike Pence both spoke at the signing. However, after Trump finished his remarks, he apparently forgot that he actually had to sign the order at his executive order signing, and made for the door.

Fortunately, Pence grabbed Trump before he exited the room and reminded him that you can’t hold an executive order signing and not sign an executive order. Andy Slavitt wept.

Trump had promised in a Tuesday tweet to use “the power of the pen” to move forward on health care, in light of the failed efforts of Congress. Specifically, the order directs federal agencies to relax rules on coverage (see an explainer here).
