Anderson Cooper Goes Live On Your iPad Starting Tonight; CNN Offers 24 Hour Live TV Streaming

TV keeps expanding from that screen in your living room, and today CNN begins 24-hour live streaming its entire on-air schedule to 50 million people who’ve downloaded CNN’s app and have satellite, cable or telco service, part of the network’s participation in the TV Everywhere initiative. “We have long believed that our growth depends on keeping CNN essential and relevant to consumers wherever they are,” said Jim Walton, president of CNN worldwide.

The CNN app, starting today, provides the complete CNN–and HLN–schedule exactly as it airs on the cable networks, including commercials. “CNN is taking a significant step forward by offering live CNN and HLN TV to our audiences whether they are on their couches at home or have their toes in the sand on the beach,” said KC Estenson, general manager of CNN Digital. “The 10 million users who have downloaded CNN’s mobile apps and the tens of millions of people who get the latest news and information from CNN.com every day will soon be able to watch CNN TV on every device they have.”

Live on-air coverage is also available via the CNN.com website.

Sorry to inform CNN but they’ve been streaming live on the net for years. A simple Google search would bring up sites who streamed them. This is nothing new.

CNN is once again leading the industry to a new platform. First cable news, then live war coverage, now mobile devices.

KIP, you’re confusing streaming live with providing the entire 24 hour on-air product live on the web and via app. That is new, and it starts today.

No, actually there are sites who stream the entire network live 24/7. You want me to provide a link? I can. I’ve watched 360, John King and even some weeken

What about the cable carriage fees? Wasn’t the biggest obstacle to steaming programming online the cable companies?

This has been done through an agreement with just a handful of providers and though I don’t have any insider knowledge, it appears to be part of a broader agreement. While not streaming, my kids discovered over the weekend that one of CNN’s sister companies (Cartoon) is now suddenly requiring subscription through these same six providers for full eps.

Unfortunately, my provider isn’t listed, so I’m out in the cold and I assume because there hasn’t been another Pipeline-like service announced, one isn’t in the cards.

I’m sure Time-Warner would like to know who’s stealing their signal.

look up “watch cnn live” on google… that’s all they’d have to do

They will have to go after many sites because they are everywhere! And not just in the U.S. either. They stream it from the mid east on their sites. Like I said, it’s everywhere. When they shut down one another will open, I am sure.

Those sites aren’t legal and are constantly taken down.

now each time a comment passat cc is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is
