Bro Nay-ner: Governor Chris Christie Announces Choice of His Wife Over Sen. Rand Paul
The rocky, loveless bromance between Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) and Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) took a light turn on Tuesday, as Governor Christie announced that he would not be attending a rally in New Jersey next week with Sen. Paul, due to a prior commitment. The rally, for lost cause Senate candidate Steve Lonegan (R-Snowball Section of Hell), falls on New Jersey First Lady Mary Pat Christie‘s birthday, a conflict which the Guv wisely explains is “no choice for me.”
At a press conference at NJIT Tuesday morning, Christie was asked about the rally. “I had to choose,” Christie said. “It was a very tough choice, Terry — but I had to choose between my wife and Rand Paul. And it’s Mary Pat’s 50th birthday that weekend and I’m taking her away just the two of us for her 50th birthday. We’re leaving Friday morning, we won’t get back until Sunday night. And in a choice between Mary Pat Christie and Rand Paul, it’s no choice for me. So, I’ll be with Mary Pat.”
Mrs. Christie will undoubtedly appreciate the enthusiastic response by her husband, but here’s an unsolicited pro tip for my Governor: maybe don’t nail “50th birthday” so hard next time. Twice.
The awesome thing about this video, though, is that it was uploaded to Governor Christie’s own Youtube account, hot off the presses:
While Christie and Paul have feuded over Hurricane Sandy relief, their unfriendly rivalry figures to continue well into the future. While Governor Christie is the only Republican who comes close to beating Hillary Clinton in national polls, Sen. Paul leads among Republicans, but gets crushed by Hillary. Even if neither of th mends up beating Clinton, their debates will be made of win.
