CBS Pollers Grade Obama On First Year In Office : President Flunks By Landslide

Well this is interesting: If the readers of CBS’ website are any indication, despite passing a historic health care bill this past weekend, President Barack Obama has failed in every “subject” of his presidency, according to the latest online poll.

From the economy (where 69% of pollers gave him an “F” grade) to health care (80.8 percent flunked him as well) to bipartisanship (79.3 percent failing grade), Barack Obama’s “Overall Job as President” landed him 64 percent in the F-zone, with only 4.3 percent of readers thinking that the POTUS deserved an A for his job. This conflicts with an earlier CBS poll which showed a 50% approval rating at the end of Obama’s first year back in January. No doubt the recent nastiness and divided partisanship over the health care debate dropped Obama a couple points in the ratings, but failing every category? What do you think – is this a fair assessment?

Hell no it’s not a fair assessment and it’s so ludicrously overbalanced against him that I’m all but certain right wingers are stacking the deck by sending readers to the poll from their biggest blogs. No online poll can really be taken seriously anymore.

How do you fail him on bipartisanship when he’s done everything possible to reach across the isle? Constantly being told no isn’t his fault, it’s the republicans refusing to be bipartisan. Some people are too stupid to poll.

  • shootfromthehip

It’s a fair assessment of a few right wing blogs’ ability to get users to click on a dumb online poll.

Good thing the “liberal media” did the right thing and spiked the numbers in Obama’s favor!

  • stoogedudes

Online polls are as reliable as a child telling you he will clean his room…remember when a poll asked what tea partiers are on Fox News’ website. Around 80% said that tea partiers were paranoid racists. Now, do you really believe that Fox News viewers are going to say that? No, it was a blog of some sort that sent hundreds of people to vote calling tea partiers paranoid racist. I have no doubt that this CBS poll is cut from the same cloth.

Depends. Is there a lower score than failing?

Uh, what kind of ignoramus who claims to be an expert on media is unfamiliar with “freeping”? (Drew Grant, apparently.)

“Freeping”, for your information, is when a bunch of morons with nothing better to do at a right-wing hate site called Free Republic deliberately vote on an online poll en masse to try to trick people into believing it’s an actual scientific poll.

It appears to have worked. You’re an idiot, Drew.

  • marcus.lewis

    Mr. Grant,

Please be advised that Presidents aren’t graded on an A to F scale.

Also please note that CBS failed to point to this question which respondents answered optimistically 62% of the time.

q17 Are you generally optimistic or pessimistic about the next three years with Barack Obama as President?

Drew, it’s an on line poll. Means anyone and everyone can vote over and over and skew results. Get your head out of your ass. This is only the latest of your juvenile postings. You related to one of the owners of the site or something?

  • marcus.lewis

    @bill adkins

You got one thing correct–Drew needs to get his head out of his ass. Besides that, you have been miss lead by Mediaite. The poll was conducted on randomized numeric land and cellular phone lines. This is a scientific poll and not an online poll that was conducted.

As I like to say, whenever you read something ANYWHERE from any media source, go to the source and read for yourself.

Mediaite should offer a retraction page. You are supposed to be a watchdog of media, yet when you screw up you just update the post. I would encourage, for transparency sakes, that the editors offer a corrections column or contract out an omsbudsman.

  • TeddyKGB

Actually, marcus – Drew is dumber than I previously expected. Not only does he/she believe that online polls are scientific, she linked to the wrong article at CBS. This is the correct page:

I can’t say if this is a fair assessment…the numbers seems a little high. But I will say that I never believed the poll numbers that CBS put out BEFORE the health care vote that the nation approve of him 55% (or somewhere along that line)….especially since most of the other pollsters find him much lower than that at the time…

in other words…I don’t have much faith in CBS’s poll numbers…

  • vidiii

Yeah, you all Obamaites will disagree with this poll results because your Idol is down below sea level but if it was a poll on Sarah Palin this low, you will believe it all the way. I am just teling you, I am a Democrat before, a HiIllary democrat but I left the party because I think all that is evil is in this party. I am an Independent now and I relialized that the better part of America is when the government is a conservative. And that was what makes America famous and loved by the world. It is gone now, because you were duped by the phrase “Change We Can Believe In”. And by the way Independents and Republicans dont go to CBS website, neither ABC, CNN, NBC of HuffPost. We go to DrudgeReport, Foxnation, FoxNews and DailyCaller. We dont vote in those websites. We go to Politico and RealClearPolitics too. If we ever believe in polls, we go to RasmussenReports. That is the pollster you should believe. They had been right since the 2008 election, the NJ, VA and MA elections. Learn now?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bill-Adkins/1585417987 Bill Adkins

That’s ok, vidiii — but if you’re an independent, where are going with your vote? To the Republicans or the Tea Party? Are you trying to sell to us that those entities are your replacement for Hillary? If you want to try to sell us that you should really look up the term ‘duped’ — you’ll find your picture there.

  • TeddyKGB

vidiii, ladies and gentlemen…this thread’s teabagger concern troll.

Maybe Drew doesn’t read the comments on these things, but shame on him/her.

  • Big Sir

Obama is misusing his power! The polls against will increase as he continues to invade our freedoms. Too bad the librals don’t get it. Wait until Nov. 2010, the Dems have a RUDE awakening when the Republicans take over.

  • http://www.sailrabbits.com Magister

Everybody — Drew is a her, if nothing else, let’s try to get that part right.

  • pyrope

OK, let’s see if I’ve got this right.

Liberal logic: -0bama fails in a poll conducted by a network that most liberals cling to and gets bad grades.

Only Possible Conclusion: The poll was rigged.

Does that about sum it up?

  • TeddyKGB

    Conservatives are stupid.

  • dwhx1b

It appears to me that the Liberals are really good at calling names! If you feel like listening to a habitual liar, well just keep doing what you are doing and stop the name calling! It only makes you look a little smaller.

First of all, I’ve always viewed ALL online polls as less than legitimate. I consider myself liberal to moderate, but have voted Republican in the past. My only comment on this is that I’ve heard from some friends (and just received it myself) that their right wing friends are flooding the internet with e-mails on this. One full year in office and people refuse to have patience and what’s worse they feel that he’s to blame for everything that went down in the last administration’s EIGHT years in office.
There are lots of us who feel that much of this has to do with racism…whether anyone will admit to it or not. I finally got two friends to admit to that very thing so you can’t tell me that we’re past racial problems/differences.
