Bristol Palin To Make Her Acting Debut
Well, I guess this really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. The LAT's Matea Gold is reporting that Bristol Palin, teenage daughter of Sarah Palin, mother of Tripp Palin, former girlfriend of Levi Johnston will be making her acting debut on the TV show “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” Actually, I'm not sure 'acting' debut is accurate since she'll be playing herself. But nevertheless: television! From the article: (more...)
Sarah Palin — And Bristol — Respond To Family Guy
Early this morning, Fox News contributor Sarah Palin blasted Fox Hollywood for the recent Family Guy episode that took a pretty hard-to-miss jab at her special needs son, Trig Palin (Family Guy son Chris Griffin was dating a girl with Down’s Syndrome...whose mother was the former governor of Alaska). Calling it "another kick in the gut" — a reference to Rahm Emanuel's use of the word "retarded" — Palin turned to her daughter, Bristol, for her response. Wrote Bristol: "People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet. Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them?" (more...)
Sarah Palin (And Bristol!) Quietly Return To Oprah Today
It is perhaps a measure of what a snoozefest the first interview was that new FOX contributor Sarah Palin's appearance on today's Oprah Winfrey has barely made a ripple in the headlines. Nevertheless, Palin, with daughter Bristol in tow, apparently popped up on today's 'Fridays Live' Oprah. (more...)
NY Post: Palin Grosses Six Figures For In Touch Cover
In 2008, Governor Sarah Palin brought in $125,000 (not counting a clothes allowance from some friends). Last year, presumably about half of that.
This year, she could be on track for a whole lot more. For example, if she can keep landing cushy deals like her current cover photo for In Touch Magazine, which Page Six reports grossed her a flat $100,000. And we're only halfway through January! (more...)
Judge Orders Palin Custody Battle Open To The Public
Much to the delight of media folks everywhere, and the understandable dismay of the Palin family, an Alaskan judge has forced the custody battle between Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston to go public. Up until now the court case, filed by Bristol Palin back in November in order to obtain sole custody of Tripp Johnston-Palin has been closed to the public. Apparently this measure did not sit well with Levi Johnston. From the Alaska Dispatch: (more...)
Sarah Palin’s Secret Plan to Adopt Her Grandchild! And Other Levi Johnston Revelations
video Perhaps in lieu of a well-followed Facebook page, Levi Johnston chose to take his story about life with the Palins to the once-powerful pages of Vanity Fair. Earlier this week a preview of the October issue went online, and last night VF opted to make excerpts of Johnston's 'Me and Mrs. Palin' piece available online, though just enough of it to whet your appetite (maybe VF is finally figuring out the internets!). (more...)
Everybody Goes to (Media) Rehab!
What do you do when everyone thinks you're A) washed up at the grand ol' age of 19 B) a notorious dog killer or C) somewhat unlikable? Why, you take Kathy Griffin to the Teen Choice Awards, beg for forgiveness on the "Tiffany Network's" most pristine and well-aged show or learn the paso doble with the other also-rans. It's time to rehab those careers, even if you're poor Levi Johnson and you don't even have a career to ruin yet. (more...)
Pet Peeve: Uninformed People on TV Spouting “Facts” That Are Patently False.
I'm looking at you, S.E. Cupp. Do some research.
Here's what she said, in response to the whole manufactured Letterman-Palin kerfuffle:
This is the enduring legacy of the Obama campaign. I'm not saying this to be inflammatory, I blame Barack Obama because he allowed his surrogates in the media and Hollywood and everyone else on the left to do this dirty talking for him....he didn't come out and say, 'enough is enough, I don't want to win this way. I have two daughters, and I don't like the way that this woman, or Cindy McCain, is being talked about.
This caught me, because of course Barack Obama said pretty much exactly that as soon as Bristol Palin's pregnancy came out. Here's the transcript, from Sept. 1, 2008:
I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people’s families are off limits, and people’s children are especially off limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics, it has no relevance to governor Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. And so I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18. And how family deals with issues and teenage children that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that is off limits.
FACTS! I know they're awkward and sometimes keep you from spouting off incendiary blather, but, you know, they do exist. Sheesh.
