Cable news ratings, July 28, 2011:

•As the nation moves toward an August 2d debt crisis deadline, there’s plenty of news for the Washington-based cable news shows, and a few of them battled it out Thursday for bragging rights. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews took second place behind Fox’s The Five with an average audience of 211,000 viewers 25-54–beating CNN’s Washington-based Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. But at 7 p.m., CNN’s DC-based John King beat Matthews and took the second place spot behind Fox’s New York news show hosted by Shepard Smith.

•At ten p.m., FNC’s On the Record was first, with 468,000 viewers 25-54, followed by another tight race for second, with CNN’s Anderson Cooper beating out MSNBC’s Ed Schultz.

Isn’t it funny how 2 hours of Chris Matthews can’t beat one hour of Shep Smith?

  • Moderate

The5 has a production cost of almost nothing and can beat the best MSNBC has to offer at any time.

  • James

Is that the first time Tingles has ever beat ANYONE  in viewers?
Also, look how the new FOX Show The Five, is kicking everones ass in both categories,
    every hour.
I am only pointing that out because I was telling you all for a couple months that would happen, no matter the format or host FOX put out there at 5; PM.
FOX could  routinely kick MSNBC’s ass with a Test Pattern.
OMG, it is so hard to be HUMBLE

  • NeverWrong

ROTFFLMFAO @ Chrissy ‘Tingles & Thrills’ Matthews beating lowly ol’ Wolf Blitzer (my pet rocks could beat Wolf) and losing to John King…..nobody has ever lost to John King until now! ROTFFLMFAO…just too damn funny. All 3 of them should just retire and go to the old folks home for unpopular talking heads.

It’s nice to see Matthews beat someone, other than himself ( to an autographed photo of Barack Obama ), for a change.

nothing will beat the 5…great fun and even some serious stuff…love it,love it!
