Competitive Tension? Michele Bachmann And Sarah Palin Heading For Iowa Showdown

Video

A report on Good Morning America explores “the apparent competitive tension between two of the most powerful conservative women in America” Sarah Palin and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. With Bachmann officially announcing her campaign for President today in Iowa and with Palin visiting Iowa tomorrow for the premiere of her new documentary, ABC’s Dan Harris wonders “can they share the spotlight?”

Palin has now attempted to be in the news on the days when Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman, and now Bachmann have made their campaigns official. ABC’s Matthew Dowd comments, there is an “unwritten rule you don’t step on somebody’s announcement. She doesn’t seem to care.” As Palin and Bachmann compete for the attention of Tea Party supporters though, Dowd sees each woman assuming a different type of role moving forward, with Bachmann acting more like a candidate, and Palin acting more like a celebrity.

Yet Palin’s ability to grab the spotlight is undeniable and means if she does actually decide to enter the presidential contest, she would still seem to be a potent force. And as the report notes, “if she does get in, her support will almost certainly come at the expense of her tea party rival” Bachmann.

Only in the left wings mind. They’ll work hard at trying to make it an issue, which it isn’t. Let’s watch…

  • TangledThorns

If Palin will announce it will be right before the ID4 weekend. She knows that holiday weekends are slow for news so her announcement will be the biggest story till Tuesday. Like I said, that’s an ‘if.’ I hope Sarah does run, she is the best chance on fixing Obama’s failed economic and energy policies.

An event not actually taking place, as of now, but watch and there will be 437 post by this time tomorrow.

  • writer

Yes. Neither woman should be paid any attention. And the left will now spend hundreds of posts telling us so.

  • Just4thefax

Fact: You can sandwhich me between Bachman and Palin. WhooHoo…….

  • THE REAL ROYAL KING

I agree with Bachmann on but a few issues, and I do not believe she had the disposition, the demeanor and the temperament to be president. However, she is a serious woman entitled to respect. The other, not so much. I believe Bachmann will be a part of our national dialogue for years to come. Palin and her offspring who are legitimately “out there” will be part of the gossip pages for years to come.

Somewhere, OUT THERE, beneath the pale moonlight……

    Nice song.

Perhaps Palin and Bachmann played more golf and done some community organizing that would change your mind?

Like in Caddyshack, Bill Ayers could provide the bombs so the ball would drop in the cup.

The showdown is between the Obama coverage and the Palin coverage tomorrow.

Bachmann should know better I guess as it would be her stepping on Palins toes if any toes were being stepped on. The date of the documentary was set long before Bachmann decided when and where to announce her candidacy. But of course the Media will make it about Palin. They also seem to be trying to make up a thing between the two of them beyond the normal competition that would be going on if Palin also announces which no one knows she is going to do. No signs of the two of them being catty that I have seen but the main stream media can’t want to make it up.

When is her legal timeline over? I thought it was at the end of July? She won’t announce until that two year window is over.

Bachmann has made a mistake. Big time. Ed Rollins for starters. And there’s no way that she should be running for the Presidency at all. Bachmann is a non-starter in my world.

Well I have learned that I may have to vote for someone who I don’t really like most of the time. I voted for Bush and McCain. Voted for the lesser of two evils most of my 37 years of voting. Bachmann is a better choice than any of those I previously had to vote for. I won’t mind at all if she gets the nomination. Much better than Romney. There are a few things I don’t trust about Palin as well. I would be hard pressed to choose between these two ladies. Ed Rolins is a negative for Bachmann as you say. I know you are 100% in Palins corner and anyone who disagrees with her is mud in your book. We would be a fortunate country indeed to have that gutsy lady lead our country if she would not be attacked and rendered ineffective. Many presidents are rendered ineffective. Bush did not run this country in his last two years. It was run by the democrats. We have, thank God, rendered Obama less effective. Palin was forced to quit in Alaska and would be rendered ineffective just like Bush. She would not just sit back and take it like him however. It would be interesting. She has to turn it around and make a larger percentage of people see what she as to offer. My husband thinks she will and I am looking forward to seeing it. Looking at what happened with the e-mails and looking forward to the documentary.

This looks like a case of, if there’s no story here, the media will make one up.

This looks like a case of, if there’s no story here, the media will make one up and 9 times out of 10 they make it up about Palin.

This is just in from The Washington Times:

“Rep. Michele Bachmann kicked off her presidential campaign on Monday in Waterloo, Iowa, and in one interview surrounding the official event she promised to mimic the spirit of Waterloo’s own John Wayne.

The only problem, as one eagle-eyed reader notes: Waterloo’s John Wayne was not the beloved movie star, but rather John Wayne Gacy, the serial killer.”

    Everybody loves a clown!

Maybe Bachmann can go to Vermont and mimic the spirit of Ted Bundy..

  • writer

How could she mix them up? Gacy was a Democrat.

  • WillP

I just have one simple question. Why in the world would a tea party conservative vote for Palin over Bachmann? Bachmann has served several terms as congresswoman. She founded the Tea Party Caucus. She has a postdoctorate. She is a former tax attorney. Yeah, she made a few off the cuff statements that she would probably like to take back. But, she can appear serious and forthright. Palin on the other hand is a complete airhead. She QUIT her only real job in public service that is Governor of Alaska. She then went on to make tens of millions of dollars in the private sector doing a reality TV show, having books ghostwritten for her, giving lectures around the world. It’s buffoonery that anybody takes Palin serious anymore much less takes her more seriously than Michelle Bachmann.

Thank you for the humor. I just know that in the wee hours of the morning when Todd and Sarah discussed her remaining governor they were contemplating over whether she would be forced to resign. LMAO. They were seeing the bright green dollar signs of trading in her sudden fame for fortune.
“See what she has to offer?” She is a freakin’ loser who quit her job for no logical reason. Who in their right mind would ever vote for her again after quitting the governorship? A winning campaign motto is not that “I will not quit next time. I promise.” But, there will always be people like you who will vote for her just like there were people ready to defend Paul Revere’s ride ringing bells warning the British to not take away American arms.

I really hope that’s not true!! I remember John Wayne Gacy otherwise known as Pogo the clown. That guy was not just a serial killer, but a serial killer of innocent children!! Mixing up John Wayne and John Wayne Gacy? I can’t believe this is true. Yep. I’m checking. It is all over the news right now. OMG. The comedians are going to have a field day with this one.

When the snobbish, elitist far left hates someone that badly, and treats her every minor gaffe as the Apocalypse, many think there must be something there to like.

  • CAconservative

    WillP:

I have more than one question to ask you, (1) why would anyone vote for a Senator, who consistently voted present, instead of addressing an issue? (2) Why would anyone vote for a person who’s only qualifications was as a community organizer, and not a particularly good one at that? (3) Why would anyone vote for a clown who openly tells you he’s going to take the fruits of you labor and give it to people who didn’t lift a finger to earn it?
That’s just 3 of the amazingly simple questions that you should have asked yourself prior to voting for this “dog&pony show”! There’s a whole lot more, if you’d like to read them. Just let me know.

Interesting take on my comment. You have problems with comprehension I see. If you don’t believe she quit for the reasons she stated that is your right but it doesn’t make your version factual. I happen to believe she quit because she was rendered ineffective by idiots like you and it was costing the state a lot of waste. Pretty logical reason to resign. I respect her for it. I also don’t believe she could have predicted that she would be able to make so much money off it. Most of us predicted she was dead in the water when she quit. Many times since I predicted she was done. She is a regular Phoenix as she rises from the ashes each time. Maybe she would be the perfect choice for President. This country will need to rise form the ashes Obama made of us during his time. You claim people like me will vote for her when I have stated I don’t consider her the best candidate, at least not at this time. How the public responds to the documentary and what happens in the next year could change my mind. As for the bells ringing the historians and the tour guide stated she was right even if she stated it poorly. But go ahead and have your laugh as I don’t think you will have the last laugh.

Bachmann and Palin going head-to-head? Chris Matthews is already feeling a tinging running up his leg.

  • azgrandma

Michele better watch her back because the moron stops at nothing to take her competition down. Wonder how much longer the idiots at sarahpac will continue to pour money into her little fun and games or whatever it is she is playing.

Your wrong Sarah isn’t the best choice. Best choice on economic & energy policies is hands down Mitt Romney who has done a great job on the business front.

I’m not sold on Palin or Bachmann either. You say that has served several terms which she hasn’t 3 terms so far that’s 5 years not enough to be president in my eyes like Obama I don’t want someone with only few years under there belt I think Bachmann has to be governor or senator before becoming president. I’m sold on Mitt Romeny and if the primaries were held today I would vote for Mitt who has a record I don’t care about his flip flops he knows business and is a jobs creator.

  • The Rock

It will be interesting I don’t think that Sarah & Michele are pals or friends for that matter. Anyways I’m not sold on either Palin or Bachmann I like Bachmann a little more than Palin Bachmann has only been in congress for 5 years needs more than 5 years in public office Bachmann needs to be Governor or Senator just my opinion. Right now if the Primaries were held today I would vote Mitt Romney as he know business and is a business creator.

OK, so one of these women has the IQ of an 8yr. old and the other has the IQ of a 10 yr. old. One considers herself a celebrity and is fishing for every dollar not bolted down and the other looks like she’d eat your children. You conservatives really know how to pick’em.
