Rachel Maddow had the top non-FNC show in both total viewers and the A25-54 demographic on Friday night. It was the only non-FNC show to reach more than 300,000 demo viewers and 1 million total viewers. It was still significantly behind the top 9pmET show, Sean Hannity‘s on FNC.

• The top show on cable news was The O’Reilly Factor, followed by Glenn Beck‘s 5pmET program, in both categories.

Steve, I used to be a reporter, so I think I get it. Is it just too boring to write: “Fox destroys competition yet again” every night, and then use a subhead to indicate Maddow had the top-rated minor league show?

  • ImNotBlue

I’m still waiting for Mediaite to address this little credibility problem with Ms. Maddow:

    http://insidecablenews.wordpress.com/2009/10/22/maddows-limbaugh-mis-quote-update/

Of course, stories like this don’t get a lot of press because they interfere with the “FOX is bad” mantra, and the “Maddow is brilliant and honest” fallacy. She’s no better than the rest… an ideologue through and through.

  • Jelperman

Bullshit. Rush Limp-balls has made so many racist comments over the years that whether this particular one was made up by someone else is a red herring. Jabba the Rush is a racist pile of blubber with a sweaty, flabby dewlap.

  • straitshooter

Jelperman, thanks for explaining when it’s okay to throw away your journalistic standards. As long as you don’t like the guy, and you know he’s been a scumbag in the past (by the way, EVERYONE has been a scumbag in their past), then it doesn’t matter if you use made-up quotes. I look forward to you applying the same standard to all journalists.

  • ImNotBlue

So… Maddow can blatently lie, just as long as you don’t like the person she’s lying about.

How ethical of you AND Maddow.

  • hadashito

Rachel Maddow is the very best thing that has happened to honest, investigative journalism in many years. Her commentary show features extremely well researched FACTS, FACTS, FACTS, and commentary based on those FACTS. She does not pretend to present any “breaking” news as do the fakers on Fox “News”.
The ratings garnered by Fox “News” reflect the fact that the boobs who watch FNC and listen to that maniac, Rush Limbaugh, are devoted, arrogant, and self-convinced, but haven’t a clue regarding real facts; they believe only the garbage that the goons on FNC spew every day. As some of the comments above indicate, they inhabit a trucculant, loony tunes, fantasy world.
If Maddow’s ratings are not as glorious as are those of FNC, It may well be that in contrast to the “ditto heads” that watch FNC, liberals and progesseives often have something better to do with their time than watch commentary TV, let alone fake “news’ on Fox “News”.

  • Jelperman

Maddow didn’t lie. When it was brought to her attention that one racist quote attributed to Limp-balls was fake, she apologized for it on her show. She ‘s not the one who made it up. However, Rush Lardass is still a racist dope addict.

  • straitshooter

No, Jelpermann, your facts are in error.

It was brought to everyone’s attention that the quote was fake 5 days before she finally retracted it. In her profession, there is no difference between making up a quote and repeating a made-up quote.

Rush may well be a racist dope addict. My ability to keep an open mind allows me to leave room for that possibility. You might want to try a little objectivity, Jelpermann.

  • ImNotBlue

Actually, she didn’t retract it… she deflected it, and pointed to other quotes that “supported” her argument. Instead of taking the high road and apologizing… she proves herself to be no better than anyone else.

When all those “FACTS, FACTS, FACTS” she apparently talks about turn out to be “LIES, LIES, LIES” she feels no need to actually make amends to whomever she slights.

But hey… she’s a Liberal… so it’s all acceptable. Jelp and hadashito can apply double standards because they AGREE with her… the truth is meaningless when you WANT to believe. Right guys?
