Woodward Blasts Benghazi Response On NBC: Some In Admin ‘Acted As If They Wanted To Be Nixonian’

Bob Woodward — who, as host David Gregory noted, is “no stranger to these kinds of controversies in Washington” — was among the panelists on Meet the Press this weekend. Which, naturally, revolved around the scandal-ridden Obama administration. Asked how the president has handled it, Woodward added to the list of “Nixonian” references.

“This is not Watergate, but there are some people in the administration who have acted as if they want to be Nixonian,” Woodward contended. “And that’s a very big problem.”

“Who and how?” Gregory followed up.

“Well, I think on the whole Benghazi thing,” Woodward elaborated. “You look at those talking points and the initial draft by the CIA very explicitly said we know that activists who have ties to al Qaeda were involved in the attack. And then you see what comes out a couple of days later, and there is no reference to this. This is a business where you have to tell the truth and that did not happen here.”
