Back To Earth: On Day Three Hannity Doubles Piers Morgan In Demo; Maddow Gets Third

Cable news ratings, January 11, 2011:

•On his third night, and with a less splashy guest in the form of Condoleezza Rice, CNN’s Piers Morgan saw his ratings fall more than fifty percent from the first-place Tuesday night finish of 551,000 viewers 25-54 to 239,000 viewers on Wednesday. The drop was big, but MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow also had a dip in ratings in the demo–though a far smaller one–keeping Piers Morgan Tonight in second place. Fox’s Hannity was a solid number one, with 565,000 viewers.

Among total viewers, Hannity led with 1,974,000, followed by Maddow with 1,094,000. Morgan slipped to third place overall, with 1,028,000. Piers Morgan Tonight has another high-profile guest tonight, with Golden Globes bad boy Ricky Gervais, which may boost ratings back up a bit.

•The significantly improved ratings for CNN at 9 p.m. have helped 10 p.m.’s AC 360, which was in second place among viewers 25-54 Wednesday, edging MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell by about 19,000 viewers.
