George Conway Fears ‘We Could All Be Next’ After Trump’s FBI Raids John Bolton: ‘This Is Authoritarianism!’

George Conway told supporters of President Donald Trump that they “could be next” following an FBI raid on the Maryland home of John Bolton, a vocal critic of the president.

Conway joined CNN’s John Berman on Tuesday where the attorney called Trump “profoundly dangerous,” and likened him to dictators like Adolf Hitler.

Conway argued:

This is not America. This is not healthy. This is, and I hate, you know, people don’t want to reach this conclusion, this is authoritarianism. We have never seen anything like this in America. Everybody else in the entire world — I traveled to Europe twice this year, people were watching out there because they understand history. And they’re seeing in America things that happened. I was in Spain. They’re seeing what happened with Franco. In Europe, they’re seen what happened with Hitler, this is how it’s done.

Conway, a contributing editor to The Atlantic, actually popped up outside of Bolton’s Maryland home last week while the FBI raided it. Conway is a neighbor of Bolton’s. The raid was reportedly part of a probe involving classified documents. Vice President JD Vance suggested there is a “broad concern” beyond documents in relation to Bolton, a former national security advisor under Trump who has since become a vocal and frequent critic of his ex-boss, especially on foreign policy.

Conway noted that Vance repeatedly used the word “we” when discussing the Justice Department’s Bolton probe, and argued that it shows the White House is directly involved in the case. Anyone, he added, could face Trump’s “retribution” next.

“For those people out there who support the president and say, well, I just don’t like those people either, and they want to get the president — well, the president actually launched a coup and stole classified documents, so let’s leave that aside — for those people, it’s like, you could be next,” he said. “We could all be next!”
