Past and Present Hosts of The View Reunite to Bid Farewell to Barbara Walters

On Thursday, all the current and former hosts of ABC’s The View gathered on the set one last time to bid Farwell to retiring host Barbara Walters. In an emotional segment, the hosts shared their fondest memories of the program’s founding member and some of the advice that they said guides them in their present careers.

Host Lisa Ling offered up her favorite memory of Walters, which centered on her inability to drive. In the 2000 clip, Walters crashed repeatedly as comedian Richard Lewis coached her on the finer points of driving a cart.

Fox & Friends host Elisabeth Hasselbeck praised Walters for the advice she gave her. “You always told me to be prepared to be unprepared,” Hasselbeck revealed. “And that has really, really helped me through so many situations.”

Former host Debbie Matenopoulos was moved to tears as she recalled Walters’ helping her get past the insecurity she felt while auditioning for the program. “Even when you’re not interviewing, she cries,” Joy Behar observed.
