Steve Doocy Derails Fox & Friends Impeachment Segment: Republicans Have ‘Not Shown’ Joe Biden ‘Did Anything Illegally’

Co-host Steve Doocy once again made himself the spoiler of a Monday morning Fox & Friends segment regarding the alleged “Biden Crime Syndicate” when he noted that Republicans leading an impeachment inquiry have not yet been able to “connect the dots.”

Fox & Friends reached back to a September poll from CNN to justify a segment entirely based on American sentiment towards President Joe Biden and son Hunter Biden’s alleged criminal activity. The poll found that a majority of Americans believe that Joe Biden was involved in his son’s business dealings:

A majority, 61%, say they think that Biden had at least some involvement in Hunter Biden’s business dealings, with 42% saying they think he acted illegally, and 18% saying that his actions were unethical but not illegal. Another 38% say they don’t believe Joe Biden had any involvement in his son’s business dealings during his vice presidency. Just 1% believe Biden was involved, but did not do anything wrong.

A 55% majority of the public says the president has acted inappropriately regarding the investigation into Hunter Biden over potential crimes, while 44% say that he has acted appropriately.

Since that poll was published, however, much news has happened. The House Oversight Committee hearings on the impeachment inquiry failed to present any solid evidence of corruption or bribes, and members of that committee have even admitted on air that they do not have any evidence of criminal influence peddling or malfeasance that would rise to the impeachment of Joe Biden.

Lawrence Jones, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade were all willing participants in the segment, which strongly suggested that Hunter Biden’s recent indictments show some sort of shady activity that has to criminally involve his father, given reported phone calls and dinners Joe Biden attended with his son and business associates. But then Doocy did his thing:

“The Republicans at this point don’t have — they’ve got a lot of ledgers and spreadsheets — but they have not connected the dots,” Doocy said of Joe Biden, adding, “They’ve connected the dots, the Department of Justice did, on Hunter, but they have not shown where Joe Biden, you know, did anything illegally.”

“Now, here’s the other breaking news, and that is the Republicans are threatening contempt of Congress if Hunter does not show up for a closed-door deposition,” he added. “Ultimately, on this show, we’ve been calling for Hunter to go and sit in a chair on Capitol Hill in front of the TV cameras for the last year. Now, Hunter’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, says he will do that, but Comer and Jim Jordan say, no, it’s not negotiable, he’s got to be in private. According to Hunter Biden’s team, they don’t want to do it because of leaks and stuff like that.”

Social anthropologists and close observers of cable news hosts’ facial expressions will delight in the study of Kilmeade’s reactions to Doocy’s comments throughout the segment.
