Your Wait Is Over: MSNBC’s Ed Schultz Returns To Show Tonight

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz has finished his five-night suspension from his 10 p.m. The Ed Show, and will return to the show tonight, his first appearance since he made a public apology for remarks made on his radio show that he described as “vile and inappropriate.”

The suspension–without pay–came swiftly after comments Schultz made about fellow radio host Laura Ingraham, calling her a “right wing slut.” (Ingraham, for her part, was not part of the furor, making no mention of the comments that day on her show, and later accepting Schultz’s apology.)

The reaction among cable news hosts was varied, with Fox’s Greta Van Susteren saying Schultz’s apology seemed “heartfelt” and urging viewers and the media to “let it go.” Van Susteren, on her program, suggested that “I think he got the message” about using the term “slut” in any way.

On his radio show, Fox’s Glenn Beck also suggested that Schultz said something he shouldn’t have, but had paid the price for it. “We all make mistakes,” Beck added.

Ratings–with guest hosts Thomas Roberts and the Rev. Al Sharpton–remained strong through the suspension.
