Vice President Joe Biden said in an interview out today that he doesn’t think Hillary Clinton is being “held to a higher standard” because of her gender.
In his interview with Mic, the vice president first harshly scolded Donald Trump for his nasty comments about women and said, “It matters what people say, it matters what people do, their conduct matters.”
But then he was asked about the tension on the Democratic side, the argument over qualifications, and Bill Clinton‘s suggestion that Bernie Sanders‘ “unqualified” attack was sexist.
The vice president pointed Sanders specifically didn’t say she’s not qualified because she’s a woman, and even said “I don’t think she’s held to a higher standard” because of her gender.
Biden also shrugged off the whole “qualified” debate and said that of course both Democratic candidates are qualified.
