Ceasefire Broken as Three Rockets Fired From Gaza Hit Israel (UPDATED)
Just hours before the latest ceasefire was set to expire, three rockets fired from Gaza landed in Israel, drawing an IDF response. No injuries or damage was reported from the rockets, which landed in open field.
No group has claimed responsibility, and it was unclear whether Hamas or an unaffiliated group fired the rockets. Either way Israel said it was “targeting terror sites across the Gaza Strip.”
Egyptian-led negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians continued despite the attacks, and despite the warning from Israel that it would not participate in the talks if under attack.* Worries of renewed violence surfaced after the ceasefire was extended at the last minute for another twenty-four hours yesterday, amidst concerns that the talks were stalling.
* UPDATE 11:59 a.m.: Never mind:
BREAKING: Israeli official says delegation in Cairo for talks has been recalled over Gaza rocket fire.
