The Farmers Insurance Open is the fourth PGA tournament of the 2017 calendar year. But for many fans, the golf season begins in earnest at Torrey Pines.
The story, going into the tournament, was the return of Tiger Woods, who was playing in his first PGA tournament in 17 months. But that storyline has already reached its conclusion, as Woods played the first two rounds in 4-over-par, missing the cut by four shots.
Two other notables who missed the cut were Dustin Johnson and Jason Day, who were 2 and 3-over respectively.
Still, there are some prominent names on the leaderboard going into the weekend. Justin Rose leads the way at 8-under, with Brandt Snedeker just one off the pace and Keegan Bradley sitting two back.
But it doesn’t matter, really. This tournament is all about sitting back and watching the beautiful Torrey Pines south course on what is, in many parts of the country, a cold winter weekend.
Coverage begins at 3:00 p.m. ET on CBS. Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo will call the action from the 18th tower. CBSSports.com will stream the tournament live at this link, and via its mobile app.
