Jon Stewart Cites Sarah Palin’s ‘Boo-Gate’ Mistreatment As A Need To Restore Sanity

In case you haven’t heard, Jon Stewart is planning a big rally in Washington D.C. for October 30th, calling it the “Rally to Restore Sanity”. On last night’s The Daily Show, the “fake news” host used two recent items in the news as examples for the nation’s dire need to restore sanity: Rep. Alan Grayson’s dishonest attack ad toward his opponent “Taliban Dan” Webster, and the fake booing controversy surrounding Sarah Palin‘s recent appearance on Dancing With The Stars. Stewart seemed put back in pointing out how Palin had been mistreated, saying “don’t make me defend her.”

Mr. Stewart summed up the absurd media coverage of Sarah Palin’s appearance on DWTS (a story that Mediaite was all to happy to cover) saying “coming up next, anecdotal evidence: extrapolatable? Or meaning less-full?” It was a rather surprising segment because Stewart’s two examples included vilifying the actions of a Democratic official and defending Sarah Palin from unfair attacks. Proof that Jon Stewart is not the knee-jerk liberal that some are all to eager claim.

Perhaps the funniest line was his replaying of Arianna Huffington‘s pledge from the previous evening to bus anyone from NY to the D.C. rally. Stewart said “I hope they’re not just embedding a link to Greyhound. I hope they’re not bus aggregators.”
