Kremlin Releases Statement on Call Between Trump and Putin

The Kremlin has already released a statement on the readout of the call between President Trump and President Putin earlier this afternoon.

As of this posting, the White House has not released its readout yet.

The Kremlin statement says that both leaders showed “a disposition to actively work together on stabilization and development of Russian-American cooperation in a constructive, equal and mutually beneficial basis.”

Putin and Trump apparently discussed joint efforts to fight ISIS, and they also had this to say about both nations’ economic ties:

It stresses the importance of the restoration of mutually beneficial trade and economic ties between the business communities of the two countries, which could further stimulate progressive and stable development of bilateral relations.

There is no mention in the Kremlin statement of whether they discussed the issue of U.S. sanctions on Russia. Trump has considered lifting them, but some major Republicans are publicly calling on him to not do that.
