Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell yesterday offered some slight criticism of how President Trump expected the democratic process to go.
McConnell spoke to the Rotary Club in Kentucky yesterday and said he personally finds it “extremely irritating” when people criticize Congress for not getting much of anything done.
He said part of the problem is the fact that President Trump and others have set “early timelines”:
“Our new president, of course, has not been in this line of work before. And I think he had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process. And so part of the reason I think people feel we’re underperforming is because too many artificial deadlines––unrelated to the reality of the complexity of legislating––may not have been fully understood.”
