A new report is suggesting that Chris Christie is losing favor with President-Elect Donald Trump, and that it’s the reason why he lost his role as head of the mogul’s White House transition team.
Amid rumors of tension between Christie and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, New York Post has reported that the mogul is not impressed with how the New Jersey governor handled the Bridgegate controversy.
“Trump thought it was shameful that Christie didn’t take the fall for Bridget Kelly,” said the Post‘s source. “Trump is really angry that Christie is sending a soccer mom to jail. He believes 100 percent that Christie was behind it all.”
The news comes after Kelly and Bill Baroni, both Christie aides, were found guilty of conspiracy and fraud in connection with the scandal last month. Christie has denied having knowledge on the matter and refuted evidence suggesting he lied to the public, though Trump reportedly feels “disgusted” that Christie isn’t taking responsibility for what happened.
“Trump really doesn’t like it when married women with kids get hurt in politics,” the source said, referring to Kelly. “She was a factor in the decision because Trump didn’t like seeing her crying.”
Christie’s position has been given to Trump’s running mate, Vice-President Elect Mike Pence.
