The Top Five Logical Fallacies To Avoid In A Political Argument
Whether you’re watching cable news or engaged in a conversation with friends, you’re bound to be witness to a huge political fight at some point. Nostrils are flaring, temperatures are rising, and yet somehow the level of logic people use in their arguments inversely comes crashing down. Why is this? Well, when we’re yelling with our mouths, we tend not to think with our brains, and in the wise words of the Scarecrow, “some people without brains do an awful lot of talking, don’t they?” Indeed they do.

So I thought it might be a good idea to go through a list of logical fallacies and highlight the ones that we can’t seem to get enough of in order to win arguments. All of these fallacies are relatively commonplace, but as a handy resource for this slideshow, I’m using the website “Thou Shalt Not Commit Logical Fallacies.” And so here are the five biggest logical fallacies you should try to avoid in political conversation.
