Kevin Durant Blasts ESPN’s Jay Williams for Telling ‘A F*ckin Lie’ About an Alleged Behind-The-Scenes Conversation: ‘NEVER Speak for Me, Ever’

Jay Williams told a detailed story Tuesday morning, claiming Kevin Durant once berated the ESPN host at a party for comparing him to Giannis Antetokounmpo. Durant, however, remembers the story differently, alleging Williams told a “f*ckin lie.”

During Tuesday morning’s Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin on ESPN Radio, Williams said he explained the context behind his comparison years ago, but Durant still wasn’t ready to accept the analysis.

“He’s like, ‘Nah, don’t ever compare that dude to me, don’t do it!'” Williams added, continuing to paraphrase Durant.

With Durant’s Nets and Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks currently involved in a Eastern Conference playoff bout, Williams’ story picked up steam on social media. Durant throwing shade at his opponent could be used as fuel for Giannis and the Bucks. But Durant quickly blasted Williams on social media, alleging it was an invented story.

The Brooklyn Nets star didn’t even tell a different version of the story, “This is a f–king lie,” Durant firmly stated on Instagram. “Jay Williams can NEVER speak for me, ever.”

Durant further reprimanded Williams on Twitter, claiming the ESPN host and former NBA player invented the story just to boost his media profile.

“Mans will do anything to advance their careers in this media s–t, wanting to be accepted by an industry that will dispose of you whenever they please,” Durant wrote. “Keep me out all that corny ass talk about whos better and legacy and all that dumb ass sh*t. I don’t even talk like that.”

The point of Williams’ story, was that Durant would savor the opportunity to prove he’s still better than Giannis, the 2020 NBA MVP. And so far he has, with the Nets jumping out to a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Bucks in the playoffs, winning their most recent contest by 39 points. Jay Williams has yet to respond to Durant’s claim of the story being false.
