Brian Stelter Sends Direct Message to Sean Hannity: Think About Rosenstein’s Warning to Pundits
CNN’s Brian Stelter called out Sean Hannity‘s Fox News punditry on camera Sunday, suggesting he heed the warning of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who on Friday advised the public against playing guessing games on the inner workings of federal probes.
“Sean, if you’re listening right now, please think about what Rosenstein said,” Stelter asked, playing the clip of his statement.
“I want to caution you, the people who speculate about federal investigations usually do not know all of the relevant facts,” Rosenstein said. “We do not try cases on television or in congressional hearings.”
While Stelter called it an important message, he doubts it will be followed by cable news personalities, Hannity in particular, who he singled out as obfuscating the truth in an effort to praise and prop up Trump’s administration.
“Hannity is so blinded by his devotion for Trump that he wants the rest of us to be blindfolded too, so that we never know the extent of Russia’s attack,” Stelter said.
The Fox host has repeatedly blasted Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s investigation into connections between Russia and the Trump administration, claiming last week’s indictments of 12 Russians for hacking and attempting to interfere with the 2016 election came at a suspicious time as Trump prepares for his meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
